LCL Consolidation Services

LCL Consolidation-

Owing to the rising competition in the market, where established companies have made their mark among their consumers with fast deliveries, there are many small & medium sized businesses  that still struggle  to manage their freight shipping and logistics  to gain higher customer satisfaction.  Partial shipments,  or shipments that don’t fill capacity, are common place  in supply  chains. Outside of using highly specialized carriers, there is another option that can provide  more opportunity for bottom line savings and increased efficiency.

LCL stands for “Less than Container Load”. It refers to a consolidation service where the customer does not have to make any special container arrangements or deals, and that the customer can consolidate his(her) goods into our containers. Consolidation Services are common in the logistics industry, and perhaps you may have heard of the term before.

LCL charges are determined by two major factors: weight and cubic ft. of the package to be shipped. To understand the charges, you must consider the fact that the weight of a package is its gross weight. It includes the weight of the goods or the weight of the air inside it. You should consider this fact while calculating the LCL charges.

LCL stands for Less than Container Load and it is a commonly used shipping term. It is the most cost effective way of shipping goods from one country to another. Shipping containers are loaded with goods from a manufacturer and then transported to a port where they wait for the cargo to fill up. The container is then transported to the destination country and delivered to the warehouse. But it is possible for only a portion of the container to be loaded with goods. The remaining space is then used for other goods by the freight forwarder in this case. It is also possible to ship goods in a smaller container to save on cost.
